Christmas and Thanksgiving are not my favorite times of year.  I moved from eastern Oregon to Kansas City many years ago, and the few times I’ve gone home for the holidays it’s with mixed feelings.  But my mother is getting older now and hasn’t been very healthy this year.  So like it or not, this is a year to make that trip.

But when I checked out the cost of airfares, I nearly fell off my chair.  Fares are coming in at $600-800, depending on what day I travel. In order to make this trip, I’d have to sell my car, which I cannot do.

But that thought got me thinking.  I went online after passing an auto title loan company on West 85th Street, and found out my 1998 Saturn could get me a loan for about $1000. I have bad credit, but that didn’t matter. I went with Car Title Loans in Kansas City, because their online application was very easy and I was able to get fast cash — by the next morning, as a matter of fact.

This was a decision I’m glad I made without hesitation.  The airfares went up $75 three days after I bought those tickets.
